PROGRAMME GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: This Continuing Medical Education (CME) session aims to enhance healthcare professionals’ understanding of primary headache disorders, with a focused comparison of migraine and cluster headaches. Headaches are among the most common neurological complaints, yet accurate diagnosis and appropriate management remain a clinical challenge due to overlapping symptoms and varied presentations. This session, Beyond the Pain: Differentiating Migraine from Cluster Headaches, will provide a comprehensive overview of the pathophysiology, diagnostic criteria, and treatment approaches for these two distinct conditions.
Participants will be guided through the definitions and clinical characteristics of migraine and cluster headaches, with emphasis on how to differentiate them based on patient history, neurological examination, and the role of radiological imaging in confirming diagnosis or ruling out secondary causes. The session will also review evidence-based treatment options for both conditions, including acute and preventive therapies.
By the end of this CME activity, participants will be able to:
