PROGRAMME GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:

Programme Goals
• To educate healthcare practitioners on the unique presentation, diagnostic challenges, and health implications of sleep apnea in women, and to improve recognition and management strategies in primary care.
• To support primary care physicians in the early recognition, diagnosis, and multidisciplinary management of sleep apnea.
• To raise awareness of the gender-specific presentation and impact of sleep apnea on women’s physical and mental health.
• To enhance clinicians’ understanding of the bidirectional relationship between sleep apnea and mental health disorders.

Programme Objectives
By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify the clinical signs, risk factors, and diagnostic challenges of sleep apnea in women.
  2. Describe how untreated sleep apnea may contribute to mental health conditions including depression and anxiety.
  3. Discuss screening strategies and evidence-based approaches to managing sleep apnea in women.
  4. Evaluate the role of mental health assessment in the comprehensive care of patients with sleep disorders.
