PROGRAMME GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:
Programme Goals
• To educate healthcare practitioners on the unique presentation, diagnostic challenges, and health implications of sleep apnea in women, and to improve recognition and management strategies in primary care.
• To support primary care physicians in the early recognition, diagnosis, and multidisciplinary management of sleep apnea.
• To raise awareness of the gender-specific presentation and impact of sleep apnea on women’s physical and mental health.
• To enhance clinicians’ understanding of the bidirectional relationship between sleep apnea and mental health disorders.
Programme Objectives
By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:
- Identify the clinical signs, risk factors, and diagnostic challenges of sleep apnea in women.
- Describe how untreated sleep apnea may contribute to mental health conditions including depression and anxiety.
- Discuss screening strategies and evidence-based approaches to managing sleep apnea in women.
- Evaluate the role of mental health assessment in the comprehensive care of patients with sleep disorders.
